Brief: Chelsea 2 – Marseille 0
An early 7th minute goal by John Terry from a Gael Kakuta corner (fluffed according to Andy Gray!) saw Chelsea take command of this second game in this season’s Champions League group stages.
Marseille would probably have taken the draw at this stage but this bought them out a bit, only to see a handball in the area give Chelsea a penalty and Nicholas Anelka slotted in calmly to make it 2-0.
Despite after the break, an Alex free kick hitting the post and then an Essien shot do the same on the opposite side, 2-0 was a fair result and keeps Chelsea top of the group with maximum points.
Next up, Spartak Moscow who also have six points from two games!
