Chelsea Supporters Join Tribute To Nat Lofthouse

Nat Lofthouse OBE : 1925 - 2011 : RIP

Bolton Wanderers game at home to Chelsea on Monday night was their first home game  since the sad passing of ex Bolton and England player, Nat Lofthouse.

The game was preceded with 15 minutes of ‘on screen’ coverage of Nat, and a minutes silence was held before kick off. Following this, both captains John Terry and Kevin Davies laid wreaths in front of the ‘Nat Lofthouse Stand’ which received a standing applause from all sides of the ground.

Nat Lofthouse was a player that a lot of us had not had the opportunity to see play but his legendary status was enough to make all supporters realise what a loss to the footballing world his passing was.

Chelsea fans show their support

The memorial entrance at the Reebok was full of shirts, scarves and all matter of Bolton Wanderers memorabilia and the book of remembrance was open with the Chelsea crest showing, and the tribute to Mathew Harding, there does seem to be a ‘connection’ with grief and celebration between the two clubs over the past years.

The Chelsea Supporters Group laid a wreath to show our support to all those affected by the loss of Nat Lofthouse and our thoughts are now with his family and friends at this sad time.
