This year’s event was the biggest one we have held with fourteen teams competing for the two trophies available. Judging by the feedback we’ve had it was the best one so far and the standard of the football on display was noticeably better than last year.
Five teams were playing for the first time and the team from the Czech Republic certainly made an impression winning two, drawing three and only losing one of their games.
The teams were drawn into two groups with Chelski Dynamo and Bucks Chelsea winning their respective groups and going onto compete in the main trophy final with Chelski coming out on top.
The two group runners up were Chelsea Supporters Group and The Has Beens who played for the plate shield. The Has Beens winning the final by two goals to nil.
The Chelsea old boys were represented by Clive Walker, Clive Wilson, David Lee and Steve Finnieston on the day and they all helped out where they could including refereeing some of the games.
We are in the process of counting the charity money that was raised and all proceeds will be given to Help A Capital Child in due course. There will be an on pitch trophy presentation at Stamford Bridge with the particular game to be decided.
Thanks have been sent to the Club for allowing, once again, the use of Cobham for the day, with particular thanks to Dave Newby and Graham Smith for their help in setting the day up.
