Chelsea Player Signing In Oxford St Adidas Store
Kent Blues went along to the new kit signing yesterday at the Adidas store in Oxford Street.
Salomon Kalou, Ross Turnbull, David Luiz and new players Romalu Lukaku and Oriol Romeu were there to promote the Chelsea third strip.
Although this is school summer holidays the heavy rain when we arrived 11am had looked like keeping big numbers of fans away but by the time the players arrived four hours later the sun was shining and there was a good long queue around the side of the store and across to the next street.
Adidas staff handed out promotional goodies and vouchers with free face painting for the youngsters in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Around 2pm tickets were given out to the first 150 in the line as guaranteed entry, so as long as you had one you knew you were going to be ok, any later and you were likely to be disappointed.
The store closed to the public 30 minutes ahead of the player’s arrival and then we were led in 10 at a time to meet them.
Fair play to the Adidas staff as I had explained the situation on arrival around a 3-4 hour wait for our Kent Blues children and so they were allowed to join the line last minute.
They also arranged a little extra space with less crowding at the beginning for them to hand out their letters and welcome card for Romalu and Oriol who both looked genuinely pleased to receive them.
The event was around the launch of the new kit but the players were happy to sign footballs, tee shirts and any other Chelsea merchandise.
We were especially impressed with Lukaku who came across as very friendly and mature and thanks to Salomon Kalou who handed out extra signed pictures to Jack and Alex.
So away we came, Jack, Alex and Graeme with 5 new signatures on their shirts and the Kent Blues “home and away” flag christened by our new players – as Jack said “something special to take back for our friends when we start school again next week”
