Bayer Leverkusen have arranged a 20 euro subsidy on the price of a Champions League ticket at Stamford Bridge – see details here –

Chelsea fans have seen a 33% hike in group stage prices despite the widespread economic downturn. In a move which went against everything that was discussed in last season’s fans forum, the club chose to ignore fans concerns at spiralling ticket prices and opted instead to increase season tickets, FA Cup tickets as well as Champions League tickets.

Leverkusen, a club which obviously understands the advantage a large vociferous fan base can give you have subsidised the group stage tickets to the tune of 20 euros – in effect halving the price – Chelsea (and the FA) could do worse than look at the strides being made in German football to listen to fans and try and include what they want when putting together club policy.

Bayer – we salute you. Chelsea – shame on you.

JT and FT’s combined weekly wage (300k?) would reduce the price by £7-8!
