So much for our easy run, from which we have managed: 3 draws, 2 wins and a celebrated defeat.
That’s nine points from what ought to have been eighteen. In short Villas-Boas has recorded one less point from those “easy” fixtures than Ancelotti managed (That’s the same Ancleotti who was summarily sacked at the end of last season).
For all that melodramatic squatting in the Technical Area, AVB has failed to lay any eggs – let alone any golden ones.
Perhaps Abramović has been distracted by the Berezhovsky litigation and hasn’t noticed?
However Counsel are summing up just in time for a fixture program that now takes on a nightmarish character (Bare in mind that we needed a soft penalty and Own-Goal to get on the scoreboard in our last couple of games):
- I can see Sir Alex de Govan rubbing his hands in expectation at this weekend’s visit to the Capital City.
- Goodison Park has never been a happy hunting ground for us.
- We couldn’t beat Fulham or Villa at home so why should be assume Bolton or Stoke will be any different?
- The Hawthorns looks as inviting as neighbouring Wolverhampton did.
- Then we travel up to Manchester.
- And then we have Spurs at The Bridge (Surely we couldn’t? No!!!!)
We need 68-70 points to secure fourth spot and UCL football.
No worries, as they say around these parts – we could qualify by winning it.
