  • “I don’t appreciate waking up in the morning to people calling me, to borrow Ashley’s phrase, ‘a ****’ or often much worse. People don’t walk past each other in the street and say that to people they don’t know, so what right do they have on twitter?”

For a former NOTW journalist he seems to have lived a very sheltered life?

  • So SAF saw through him. I wish we would ban him too!
His answer to Question 4, “Everything I believed in and stood up for as a journalist: ethics, standards, principles and morals was ripped away from me by the unforgivable behaviour of others”.
Then he questions where JT will be in ten years time! Having already ponced a meal out of him!

    Pot Kettle!

He tried but failed to alter my view on the press.

Appears to be willing to dish iot out but does not like being pulled up on failings.

    Self regulation does not work

  • “What is often forgotten is that Terry claimed he had heard Anton Ferdinand make the allegation of a racial insult at Loftus Road and then put him through two ordeals (Magistrates Court and FA regulatory commission) in an attempt to convince the authorities he was innocent.”

Considering that the said Magistrate Court(presided over by a judge) after days of going through the evidence and finding a not guilty verdict this quote shows a remarkable prejudice on his part. I didn’t see on his CV that he was a qualified judge? And who wanted to go to Court in the first place?

John Terry put Anton Ferdinand through an ordeal? Nothing to do, then, with the Crown Prosecution Service taking him to court after a still unidentified person brought the video replay of the game to the attention of the police? And why does he have to apologise when he’s been found not guilty? Is this the standard of journalism this country has? Incredible.

      Hi Pete
Could you send me an email address as Steve A is trying to get hold of you? Hope you are well? Regards Rob

  • Steve.

That was a nice easy ride for Neil.

  • I’m extremely disappointed that CSG have chosen to give Mr Ashton an opportunity to air his views on this website. IMO he is an individual who detests Chelsea Football Club and appears to be one of the coterie of journalists determined to ‘get’ John Terry.

Really enjoyed reading this – interesting.

I think however he has skirted around your question about the part that journalists played in the villification of John Terry. I think that most are more than aware that they created the s**t storm but are not willing to admit to responsibility obviously.

That said, I still think these pieces against the journalists are worthwhile pieces – even if it’s to show their hypocricy.

Even as a Millwall fan I can see that John Terry has been nailed to the wall by the papers, Kick It Out & indeed anyone that wanted a platform for their own self-promotion.

Personally I think the comment made by Frinpong & the jibe repeated, agreed with & laughed at by Rio Ferdinand were far far more offensive but those barely caused a ripple – why is that the case? I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions
