absolutely brilliant – says what I have been trying to explain to many

  • I also have misgivings about our peculiar policy of nourishing our rivals: Sturridge to Liverpoo and now Mata to ManUre. We will always fondly remember Mata’s corner kicks in the dying seconds of two European finals and forget his penalty miss in the shoot-out against Bayern! A calculation has been made that ManUre won’t be a threat for a while. We’ll see.

  • Cannot remember the last time I have felt so sad about a player leaving our club.
Having said that, this season his performances have been disappointing.
Certainly disagree with selling him to one of our rivals and if it is for business reasons then we seem to have woken up very late to profit making – especially when at the same time we buy back Matic – it seems very hypocritical indeed.
Anyway, what do I know. But as you state Trizia those who have met him know what an intelligent chap he is.
And he is more eloquent than any of his English peers.
    Good luck Juan.

The one thing that can’t be ignored is FFP. The club just aren’t in a position to take risks like waiting till the summer with a player who has been a saleable asset pretty much since Jose walked through the door. Juan wasn’t a million miles away from leaving last summer in fact.

The 49 million loss has had a real impact and it was telling that there was more than one reference to this deal being good for us under FFP including from Jose himself. My feeling is that if FFP wasn’t in force he wouldn’t have been going to the Mancs whether they were highest bidders or not.

Juan Mata will be sorely missed at Chelsea whatever the decisions of any manager or chief exec. Even if we all trust in José and what he professes to be building in terms of a squad for the future it does not give him the right to treat our player of the year for the past two seasons in such a way.I for one hoped he would at least stay until the end of the season and prove some people wrong. To me its like selling peter Osgood , cos I feel the same way as when that happened. I cannot even bear to see Juan in those pictures with him in a red shirt.
