Spot on, JT has been shoddily treated. The spine of club is now gone and christ knows how long it will be until we get it sorted. JT was good for one more full season and then dropping back into a coaching/mentoring role with the likes of Zouma, Miagza and Christensen.
Trizia, well written as always. Sad to say but this Club that I have supported for 50+ years, followed home and abroad, has no class.
On what possible basis can it have occurred to those in charge hat letting JT go at the end of this season is in any way a good decision? Even if his playing days are reducing at the very top his experience and leadership will be needed to bring on the new Chelsea, that is one without any home grown players. I know we’ve seen a few recently but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them replaced by £20m+ players in the close season like so many before.
The Board should hang their heads in shame not only for the decision (which I disagree with), but in particular for the manner in which they told JT.
Without doubt we will be thanking our Captain, Leader, Legend for 700+ top top performances on 15th May in true Chelsea style.
So true. Give JT another contract.
Totally agree that those at the top of the club lack any class, the way that people who have served our club with integrity, and especially in the case of JT, giving everything for the club and its supporters, are cast aside like yesterday’s newspaper is an utter disgrace. Give him another year to educate our younger centre backs, give him the testimonial he so deserves, then move him into coaching and eventually management. That’s what a club with class would do, unfortunately that’s no longer what happens here. We no longer have any players with leadership skills coming through, JT is unique, and I fear we won’t see his like here again.
