Chelsea Foundation community days continue to put smiles on faces
From the official Chelsea FC website:
The Chelsea Foundation has once again welcomed special guests into Cobham for an exclusive visit to the training ground.
Those present were invited as part of Chelsea Foundation’s latest community day, which continue to put smiles on the faces of those who have been going through difficult times.
The special guests and their families began their visit with a Q&A session with Chelsea legend Carlo Cudicini and head of nutrition at the club, Nessan Costello, who discussed the importance of a healthy diet in the players’ performance.
It was then time to head out to the training pitch to watch their heroes in action and after seeing the likes of Reece James, Mason Mount and Joao Felix hard at work, the visitors were joined by the squad for photographs and the opportunity to have memorabilia signed by each player.
One of those invited, Thomas Chatterton, said: ‘I remember getting my first Chelsea shirt when I was in hospital on Christmas Day. Today has been like another Christmas present! I received a video from the players recently too, so it has really made me happy to be able to come and meet them in person.’
Calum Queen, who was also joined on the day by his sister Kelsey, said: ‘Me and my sister have always supported each other, so it’s been great to be able to enjoy today together. It’s been amazing to have met my favourite players Mount and Chilwell but also some of the new signings like Enzo Fernandez and Mudryk.’
Henry Lawrence, Hollie Driver and Daisy Hone were also most looking forward to meeting their favourite player Mason Mount and were overwhelmed with delight when their dream came true.
However, it was something else that amazed Henry Lanaway…the size of Edouard Mendy’s feet! It then had Henry comparing the size of all of Chelsea’s goalkeepers feet and hands and he was lucky enough to be given some signed pairs of goalkeeper gloves.
He said: ‘I have loved today so much! All of the players are really nice and it was great to have a signed shirt, ball and gloves to take home.’
The guests were also joined by ex-Chelsea player Marvin Hinton who made 344 appearances for the Blues between 1963 and 1976 and was marking his recent 83rd birthday.
