Chelsea Women transfers: The ins, outs and new contracts in summer 2024

Chelsea new signings ahead of 2024/25

Julia Bartel

Spanish midfielder Julia Bartel kicked off our summer recruitment with her arrival from Barcelona. The 20-year-old has signed a three-year contract with an optional one-year extension.

Sandy Baltimore

Dynamic French forward Sandy Baltimore joined on a free transfer from PSG after eight years at the club. The 24-year-old has penned a four-year deal in west London.

Oriane Jean-Francois

Oriane Jean-Francois joins former PSG teammates Baltimore and Ashley Lawrence in making the move across the English Channel to Stamford Bridge. The French midfielder can play at the base of central midfield or go box-to-box when required. She has signed a contract until 2028 with the option of an extra year.

Lucy Bronze

Full-back Lucy Bronze arrives from Spanish giants Barcelona with a glittering CV that includes five UEFA Women’s Champions League titles. The England legend has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the club.

Louna Ribadeira

A talented young French forward, Louna Ribadeira joins on a four-year deal with the Blues from Paris FC, where she will spend the upcoming campaign back on loan. The 20-year-old has already racked up 60 senior club appearances and recently won her first senior international cap with France.

Chelsea new contracts summer 2024

Sam Kerr

Blues forward Sam Kerr agreed to extend her stay in west London in June, with her new deal running until 2026. The 30-year-old joined the Blues midway through the 2019/20 season and has since won five Women’s Super League titles, three FA Cups, two FA Continental Tyres League Cups and one Community Shield.

Cerys Brown

Nineteen-year-old academy graduate Cerys Brown looks set to remain with the Blues until at least 2025. This was after the club exercised an option to extend the young defender’s deal.

Greta Humphries

Academy defender Greta Humphries has agreed her first professional contract to move to the senior ranks. The 18-year-old ball playing centre-back signed from Tottenham in 2022 and has agreed a deal until 2025, with the option to extend by a further year.

Jorja Fox

The 20-year-old, who rose through the ranks of our Academy, penned a new deal which will run until the summer of 2027. Jorja Fox made her Blues debut during the 2020/21 campaign and spent last season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, where she unfortunately suffered an ACL injury.

Katie Cox

Having been at the club since she was only eight years old, goalkeeper Katie Cox has signed her first professional contract with Chelsea. In May of this year, the 18-year-old became the first-ever recipient of the Women’s Academy Player of the Year award.

Lexi Potter

Midfielder Lexi Potter has committed her future to the Blues by signing a new four-year deal at the club. The Academy graduate has been at the club since she was eight years old.

Chelsea departures summer 2024

Fran Kirby

It was an emotional goodbye for forward Fran Kirby. The England star has joined WSL side Brighton and Hove Albion ahead of the 2024/25 season. In her near decade of service, she became the club’s leading goalscorer in the modern era and one of the true Chelsea greats.

After almost 10 years at the club and over 200 appearances, the Blues all-time leading scorer in the modern era bids farewell to the Chelsea faithful after her final home game against Bristol City at Kingsmeadow…

Maren Mjelde

Maren Mjelde’s exit meant another long-serving Blue departed this summer. The Norway legend, who has won 176 caps for her country, joined us ahead of winning the 2017 WSL Spring Series and established herself as a key squad member in the years that followed.

Melanie Leupolz

The Blues bid a fond farewell to talented Germany international Melanie Leupolz who joined Real Madrid after a successful four years. The midfielder won four WSL titles, a League Cup and three FA Cups during her time the club.

Reanna Blades

Winger Reanna Blades has left upon the expiration of her contract. The academy graduate spent last season on loan at Championship side Lewes.

Alsu Abdullina

After two years at Chelsea, Alsu Abdullina has departed following the end of her contract. The left-back spent last season on loan at Paris FC but made nine appearances in all competitions during 2022/23 and was part of a squad that won a league and cup double.

Nicky Evrard

Belgian goalkeeper Nicky Evrard has completed a permanent transfer to PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands. The 29-year-old signed for Chelsea in 2023 and spent part of last season on loan at Brighton.

Jess Carter

After six successful years at Chelsea, Jess Carter completed a permanent transfer to NJ/NY Gotham of the NWSL. The England international joined the Blues in 2018 and went on to surpass more than 150 appearances and won many trophies along the way. She left the club after winning the League Cup twice, the FA Cup three times and as a five-time WSL winner.

After six years at the club, winning five WSL titles, three FA Cups, two Conti Cup’s and one Community Shield, Chelsea say goodbye to the Blues defender – it’s been a pleasure, Jess Carter.

Katerina Svitkova

Katerina Svitkova completed a permanent transfer to Slavia Prague in her homeland two years after joining Chelsea. The attacking midfielder signed in July 2022 and made five appearances in her first season which was disrupted by injury. She was part of the squad who won the WSL and FA Cup double during 2022/23.

Jelena Cankovic

Jelena Cankovic departed the Blues and joined Brighton & Hove Albion on a permanent deal after spending two seasons at the club. She won two WSL titles and an FA Cup during her time in London, and made 38 appearances across all competitions.

Emily Orman

The Chelsea Academy graduate, who had been at the club since she was 16, departed the Blues to join London City Lionesses. She claimed WSL and FA Cup winners medals during the 2022/23 season.

Chelsea loans summer 2024

Ashanti Akpan

Ashanti Akpan has been loaned out to Birmingham City of the Championship.

Greta Humphries

The young defender will get her first taste of competitive senior football while on loan in the Championship with Bristol City.

Jorja Fox

The right-back has been loaned to newly-promoted WSL side Crystal Palace.

Aimee Claypole

The forward joined Swedish side Linkoping on a short-term loan in August, with the league season running until November.

Louna Ribadeira

Ribadeira returns to France to spend the season with Paris FC. She was named the French division’s Young Player of the Year last term.

Cerys Brown

The defender has been loaned to Championship side London City Lionesses.

Lexi Potter

Potter returns to Crystal Palace on loan having spent last season with the Eagles where she won the Championship and promotion to the WSL.
