Transfer deadline day 2025: Everything you need to know
From the official Chelsea FC website:
The final day of the 2025 summer transfer window is upon us, and here is everything you need to know as the minutes tick down toward tonight’s deadline.
When does the summer transfer window close in England?
The window in England closes at 7pm UK time on Monday 1 September 2025.
When does the summer transfer window close in Spain, Italy, Germany and France?
The main European windows close on Monday 1 September 2025. All are aligned this summer, with the exception of Spain, which closes at 11pm. The rest close at 7pm (BST).
Which countries can still sign players after that date?
Clubs in the Netherlands, Norway and Brazil will have an additional day to complete their business, with the windows in those countries closing on Tuesday 2 September.
It’s 5 September for teams in Austria, Croatia and Ukraine, 8 September for those in Belgium and Poland, and 9 September for sides in the Czech Republic, Romania and Switzerland.
The Saudi Pro League transfer window closes on 10 September. In Turkey, the window shuts on 11 September. It’s 12 September in Greece.
What happens after the deadline?
If a transfer is agreed between two clubs late in the day, the Premier League grants additional time for the relevant documentation to be completed and submitted.
A deal sheet can be sent to the authorities to indicate that a transfer agreement has been reached, after which the clubs are handed an additional two hours to complete the remaining paperwork.

What are the Premier League squad list rules?
Clubs in England can make as many changes to their Premier League squad list as they want during the summer transfer window, with no restrictions to additions outside of the overall limit of a maximum 25 over-21 first-team players, of whom a minimum of eight must be homegrown.
In this instance, homegrown is defined as someone of any nationality who was 21 or older on 1 January 2024 and spent a total of three years registered to an English or Welsh club prior to the end of the season in which he turned 21.
Coaches can supplement the squad with any number of under-21 players (born on or after 1 January 2004), whatever their country of birth.
Who have Chelsea signed this summer?
Our first recruit of the summer window was striker Liam Delap, who arrived from Ipswich Town. Mike Penders, Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr also finalised their transfers from Genk, Sporting Lisbon and Strasbourg, respectively. All four were part of the Blues’ squad at the Club World Cup.
Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro were signed mid-tournament, with the latter having a major impact with goals in the semi-final and final to help the Blues become world champions for a second time.
Estevao Willian’s move from Palmeiras was completed at the start of August. Jorrel Hato also arrived from Ajax. And Alejandro Garnacho joined the Blues from Manchester United on Saturday (August 30).
Kendry Paez also arrived this summer from Independiente del Valle following his 18th birthday. He will spend the campaign on loan at Strasbourg alongside Penders and Sarr.
