  • John Drewitt

    Spot on about Cole.

Without his goal-line clearances in Naples at The Bridge against Barcelona, there would have been no “Munich”.

And his penalty that night was pretty good too.

    Good luck to him.

  • Torres is like a bad relationship that you try your hardest with, say nice things about, but somehow it’s never going to work, no matter how long or how hard you try with it. Whatever they say it must be galling for Hazard, Oscar etc to try and create for a striker who they can’t have a lot of confidence with.
It’s been a patchy season with awesome moments let down by an inability to kill off the low hanging fruit (Stoke, WBA, Sunderland…etc). If Cole goes it will be interesting to see if JM relies on Azpilicueta or looks elsewhere for a replacement. I truly think we’re only a couple of players – and a tweaking in the occasional tactic – away from winning at least the PL next season. Man U will be better, but not as much as they think they will be, Arsenal will flatter to deceive (again), Liverpool will score a lot but get found out defensively and City will be the main rivals once again. Everton will flirt dangerously with 4th place only to fall away, and Spurs will be taken over by a Russian billionaire and moved to Siberia. Hopefully 🙂

  • Great article to end the season on.
Thanks for your support Triz and I look forward to the same again next season.
    🙂

  • John, you’re right about Ashley. He was as responsible as anyone for our Champions League triumph as well as being a good luck charm in the FA Cup. However it is naïve for Trizia to think that the best is still to come. Do you think that the other clubs are going to stand still while we ‘strengthen’ our squad? We need to buy a lethal striker and keep Lukaku.

  • Great piece, thank you. Watching Cole play has been a delight — he’s talent, class, and heart. I agree with your assessment of the season — great displays of talent juxtaposed with turgid outings. I also think that Liverpool will struggle next season because it’s difficult for a club to play in the CL and compete in the EPL at a very high level. Liverpool lacks the depth. City will be tough next season as they have many talented players, but we have proven we can beat them.

If we sign a decent striker, I think next season will be very interesting. Always hopeful.
