Manchester City In The FA Cup Semi Final
From the official Chelsea FC website:
Chelsea will play Manchester City in the semi-final of the FA Cup.
The Blues defeated Sheffield United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to book a place in the last four, with a late strike from Hakim Ziyech adding to Oliver Norwood’s earlier own goal to secure our victory.
Our semi-final with Pep Guardiola’s side will take place at Wembley on either April 17 or 18 and full details for this fixture will be announced in due course.
FA Cup semi-final draw
Leicester v Southampton
Chelsea v Manchester City
We have met Manchester City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup once before, in 2013 when despite Demba Ba pulling a goal back at Wembley, we lost 2-1.
The next season, a 2-0 City win at their stadium knocked the Blues out at the fifth-round stage, but since then there was a big Chelsea victory, 5-1 at Stamford Bridge in 2016, also in Round Five with goals from Diego Costa, Willian, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and Bertrand Traore.
Back in 1971, Chelsea as FA Cup holders were knocked out by Man City in the fourth round, as we were in 1948, but there was a success for the Londoners in our first cup meeting, in 1915 in Round Three on our way to our first FA Cup final.
