Sterling honoured in Football Black List
From the official Chelsea FC website:
Raheem Sterling has been named in the 2022 Football Black List, which works to recognise the most influential black people in British football and positive role models from throughout the game.
The Football Black List, which was founded by journalists Leon Mann and Rodney Hinds and has been announced every year since 2008, honours and highlights leaders from all areas of football, divided into eight categories.
Raheem Sterling is one of five players to be included on the latest list covering the 2022 calendar year, alongside his England international team-mates Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka, Jamaica striker Andre Gray and Leyton Orient Women’s Charlotte Lynch.
Individuals are nominated for the Football Black List by members of the public, before a panel of experts including representatives from the Premier League, Football League, Football Association, League Managers Association and Kick It Out narrow it down to the final selection.
Sterling’s inclusion is the latest recognition he has received for his work on and off the pitch, having been given an MBE in the Queen’s 2021 Birthday Honours List for services to racial equality in sport and being named on the Powerlist of the most influential Black Britons for the last two years.
