Academy skipper Gilchrist up for award!

Academy centre-back and development squad captain Alfie Gilchrist has been nominated for the PL2 Player of the Month award.
An ever-present in Mark Robinson’s side, Gilchrist has been instrumental in our two wins and one draw in February. At the heart of a back-three, two clean sheets and a great defensive performance away at Blackburn Rovers have helped the defender impress.
Gilchrist has shown his durability and availability as captain as he has played 90 minutes in all our games last month. In fact, the young defender has played the full game in all 16 matches he has started this season.
Development squad head coach Robinson said about Gilchrist: ‘We have taken him out of his comfort zone in respect to what we are asking him to do on the ball and because of his brilliant attitude, he has bought into it and grown as a player.’
The winner of the award will be chosen by the Premier League Football Development panel after PL2 clubs’ coaches nominated the best performances by opposing players in each league fixture in February.
Our development squad will be in action next on Monday 6 March 2023 away at Manchester United with kick-off at 7pm.
