The 2023/24 season may be over but football never stops. Here is what to look out for in a busy summer schedule at Chelsea…

Soccer Aid 2024

Stamford Bridge plays host to this year’s Soccer Aid charity match on Sunday 9 June, with the aim of raising funds for UNICEF and tickets are still available in hospitality areas.

As always, a host of celebrities and former footballers will be taking to the pitch to represent England and the Rest of the World, with Blues legends Eden Hazard, Frank Lampard, Karen Carney, Gary Cahill, Joe Cole, Michael Essien, Petr Cech and John Mikel Obi all set to be involved on the day.

Summer transfer window

The summer 2024 Premier League transfer window opens on Friday 14 June and continues until 11pm on Friday 30 August, which this year is also the deadline for all clubs in the Football League, as well as the German, French, Spanish and Italian top flights.

The Women’s Super League summer transfer window begins 10 days later on Monday 24 June.

 

 

Euro 2024

There is likely to be Chelsea involvement in Germany this summer when the 2024 European Championship takes place.

The hosts face Scotland in the opening game in Munich on Friday 14 June and the tournament concludes with the final in Berlin on Sunday 14 July.

Premier League fixtures

All of the 2024/25 Premier League fixtures will be revealed at 9am on Tuesday 18 June, with the official Chelsea website and app bringing you the news.

Copa America

Our South Americans could also be in action over the summer as they bid to be crowned continental champions in the 2024 edition of the Copa America. The tournament in the USA will run from Thursday 20 June until Sunday 14 July.

Moises Caicedo and Kendry Paez have both been named in Ecuador’s squad already, while Enzo Fernandez will hope to be fit in time to represent defending champions Argentina.

The final squads have to be confirmed by Wednesday 12 June.

2024 Olympic Games

Later in the summer, several players from our men’s and women’s teams will be hoping to represent their nation at this year’s Paris Olympics. The men’s tournament runs from Wednesday 24 July until Friday 9 August, with the women’s competition following a similar schedule but a day later.

For the men, France, USA, Spain, Ukraine and Argentina could all have Blues in their squad depending on selection, while the women’s competition could feature our players with France, USA, Colombia, Canada, Germany, Japan and Australia.

Pre-season Tour

Chelsea kick off our preparations for the 2024/25 campaign with a pre-season tour of the USA, starting in Santa Clara, California when we play Wrexham on Wednesday 24 July.

That is followed by fixtures against Celtic in Notre Dame on Saturday 27 July and Club America in Atlanta on Wednesday 31 July.

As we move into August, there is an all-English meeting with Manchester City in Ohio on Saturday 3 August, before our time in the US concludes with a big game in Charlotte, where we take on Champions League winners Real Madrid on Tuesday 6 August.

Chelsea Women will also be getting involved in the action Stateside later in the summer, when they face Gotham FC in New Jersey on Monday 19 August.

UEFA Conference League draw

The Blues secured qualification for the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League play-off round last season and the draw for the two-legged play-offs will be held on Monday 5 August, with the Thursday-evening matches scheduled for 22 and 29 August.

Chelsea will be seeded in the ‘main path’ of the play-off draw due to our UEFA co-efficient. A total of 48 teams will compete in the play-offs for a spot in the group stage, including those who come through the qualifying rounds and those who are eliminated from the Europa League third qualifying round.

The four other teams confirmed to be taking part in the Conference League play-off round so far are Fiorentina, Real Betis, Lens and Heidenheim.

Premier League dates

The next Premier League campaign will begin on Saturday 17 August and comes to a close with the final round of fixtures on Sunday 25 May, 2025.

Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton are the new teams to look out for, after earning promotion from the Championship, replacing relegated trio Luton Town, Burnley and Sheffield United.

UEFA Women’s Champions League draw

Chelsea Women have longer to wait to learn their opponents in European competition, having booked a place in the group stage of the Women’s Champions League. The draw for that round of the competition takes place on Friday 27 September.
