Chelsea learn possible UEFA Conference League play-off opponents

From the official Chelsea FC website:

Chelsea will play either Braga or Servette in the UEFA Conference League play-off round later this month.

The first leg at Stamford Bridge is scheduled to take place on Thursday 22 August, with the return leg in Portugal or Switzerland set for a week later, on Thursday 29 August. UEFA will confirm the date and kick-off times by this Friday 9 August.

We will play the loser of the Braga v Servette Europa League third qualifying round tie, with those two teams going head-to-head on 8 August and 15 August.

Braga finished fourth in Portugal’s Primeira Liga last season and competed in the Champions League group stage. Their coaching staff includes former Chelsea goalkeeper Eduardo.

They have the fourth-highest UEFA coefficient of any team involved in today’s draw, behind Chelsea, Ajax and Fiorentina, and will start as the favourites against Servette.

Servette won the Swiss Cup final in June, their first major trophy in 23 years. Last season they also reached the round of 16 in the Conference League.

Chelsea played Servette in Geneva in May 1946 as part of a six-game post season tour of Switzerland. We won 2-0. Should we play Servette, it would be our first competitive fixture in Switzerland since meeting Basel in 2013.
