Premier League Cup fixtures confirmed

From the official Chelsea FC website:

Chelsea’s Academy teams have learned our Premier League Cup group stage opponents, with the Under-18s at home in the first two fixtures and the Under-17s aiming to defend our title after winning last season’s competition.

Hassan Sulaiman’s Under-18s side will kick off the PL Cup campaign at Cobham against Stoke City on Tuesday 27 August, with a 2pm start.

They will then welcome Newcastle United to Cobham on Saturday 5 October, for an 11am kick-off. The Under-18s will conclude the group stage fixtures with an away match against Millwall on Saturday 23 November, with the match also starting at 11am.

Our Under-18s aim to progress further in the Premier League Cup this season. During the 2023/24 campaign, the young Blues started strong, securing impressive wins against Barnsley, Tottenham, and Blackburn. However, our run was cut short by a narrow 2-1 defeat to Leicester.

The competition will follow the same format as the previous season. The seven group winners and the best runner-up, decided by total points and then goal difference, followed by head-to-head record, will advance to the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Chelsea Under-17s, who claimed the Under-17 Premier League Cup title in 2023/24 by defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 at Molineux, will be looking to continue their success.

The side will begin their group stage with an away fixture against London rivals Arsenal on Tuesday 17 September, with a 7pm kick-off. The next match for the Under-17s will be at Cobham against Charlton Athletic at 11am on Wednesday 2 October, starting at 11am.

The final group stage fixture for the Under-17s will be an away clash with Fulham at Motspur Park on Tuesday 26 November, with kick-off at 2pm.
