Rail travel warning for fans heading to the Liverpool game
From the official Chelsea FC website:
Chelsea supporters travelling to our game away against Liverpool on Sunday 20 October are being encouraged to plan ahead and consider alternative means of transport to rail on that day. This is a result of planned engineering works that will see the closure of Liverpool Lime Street Station for the entirety of the day.
Avanti West Coast services from London will travel to and from Crewe, with rail replacement bus services to take customers to and from Liverpool. This will add around 90 minutes to journey times.
Post match, given the 4.30pm kick-off time, there is only one option for fans to return south, via a rail replacement service to Crewe, to connect with the last service to London which arrives into Euston Station after 1am.
Avanti West Coast are asking travelling fans to consider alternative means of transport or, if they are able to do so, extend their stay by travelling up on the Saturday and delaying their journey back until Monday morning, when Lime Street Station will be open and a full Avanti West Coast service is scheduled to run.
