Women’s game review: FSA reps meet Karen Carney

The FSA today (Monday 24th April 2023) led a delegation of supporter representatives for an online evidence session with Karen Carney MBE as part of the Future of Women’s Football review. Former England international Carney is chair of the review which was announced in September 2022.
Supporters from a variety of clubs at different levels of the game representing the FSA’s Women’s Game Network made their points about the future direction of the game.
At the time of its launch the Department for Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) said the review would “look to deliver bold and sustainable growth of the women’s game at elite and grassroots level”.
All stakeholders within the game were invited to submit evidence and you can see the FSA’s submission here. It focuses on audience growth, commerce and broadcast matters, funding, structures and governance as well as sustainability.
The review’s findings are expected to be published this summer.
Deborah Dilworth, the FSA’s head of women’s football, said: “The FSA’s Women’s Game Network has been delighted to be involved at every stage of this review, from evidence submission, to panel discussions and now the fan consultation meeting with Karen and our members.
“We know supporters should be seen as meaningful stakeholders, and that they are key to the growth and development of the game, so we are grateful to Karen for the work she has done during this review.”
