Cudicini – this is how Legends game will bring big benefit

Ahead of September’s Legends game against Bayern Munich, representatives of the German champions joined local pupils at St Joseph’s Primary School in Fulham to welcome Chelsea goalkeeping legend Carlo Cudicini.
Money raised from the Legends match, which takes place at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 9 September, will be going towards supporting the Foundation’s work as well as The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. The Royal Marsden Hospital was where Gianluca Vialli was treated before his untimely and tragic passing.
Cudicini joined in with the kids after school football sessions before taking part in a fun penalty shoot-out against the young players. The after-school programme is just one of the Chelsea Foundation’s wide-ranging areas of work, all using the power of football to motivate, educate and inspire throughout our communities.
The former goalie was delighted to help out. ‘I always love events like this, especially supporting two great causes, the Foundation and the Royal Marsden,’ he said. ‘Luca was a special guy and I’m so happy we will be supporting the Marsden and the Foundation in September as well as celebrating some great moments of the club’s history. It will be a great occasion so please get your tickets and come and watch.’
Head of Foundation Simon Taylor said. ‘It’s a huge honour to welcome Carlo and our colleagues from Bayern to see at first hand the work of the Foundation and how the funds raised from Legends game will be supporting our work, as well as the Oncology Department at the Royal Marsden. The Foundation run hundreds of programmes every week helping people of all ages and backgrounds and creating stronger more inclusive communities.’
