2024 Supporters Football Tournament

After a break of over four years, the ‘Trizia Fiorellino Memorial Supporters Football Tournament’ was back and held on Saturday the 6th July at the fantastic Chelsea FC training facility at Cobham.

We had an amazing 108 submissions for the 48 team event and as such the Men’s tournament’s entries were confirmed by a draw carried out by the club, to confirm the lucky 16 teams that would joining us, along with the Women’s and Walking teams.

Despite a very challenging day with the weather, we battled on through the rain and wind to hold a ‘new format’ team event that consisted of four separate leagues (Men (Cup and Plate), Walking and Women’s) to compete for the trophies and prizes up for grabs.

The new format consisted of 6 a side league games followed by knock out matches leading to the final in each group. The Men’s Cup and Plate were decided in the morning session whilst the Walking and Women’s trophies were decided after lunch in the afternoon sessions.

We had some very competitive games but all done in good humour and in the spirit of the event which culminated in three of the four finals being decided by a penalty shoot out. We send our commiserations to the losers (albeit we are all winners of course!) and many congratulations to our winners.

The overall winners for each group were:

  • Men’s Cup – Tadley Chelsea
  • Men’s Plate – Giroud Awakening
  • Women’s Plaque – Sophie’s Ingles
  • Walking Plaque – Chelsea Kingston

We would like to thank all the organising team and helpers for making sure the event ran so smoothly and efficiently on time throughout the day.

A massive thank you to Chelsea FC for providing not only the facilities at Cobham but also for providing some great prizes for the raffle and the team winners. A special mention to the clubs new Head of Supporter Liaison Mike Cornell who represented the club from the initial stages of planning many months ago, to his invaluable help on the day. We couldn’t have done this without him.

All money received over and above expenses from the day totalled a fabulous record breaking amount. This will be split between our two charities, Sepsis Trust UK and The Chelsea Foundation. Many many thanks to everyone who supported us to help reach this figure through entry fees, the raffle and other donations.

A special thank you to @gillybee66 our photographer who battled all day through the weather to produce some amazing pictures, you can view these on the CSG Gallery Link here (scroll to the bottom of the page)

And that was it for another year, we look forward to seeing everyone again in 2025 when we do it all again.
