Chelsea Women’s Champions League third qualifying round opponents revealed

From the official Chelsea FC website:

The draw for the UEFA Women’s Champions League third qualifying round has handed Chelsea a meeting with Real Sociedad.

The San Sebastian-based team finished third in Liga F last season, six points behind second-placed Real Madrid and 21 points short of league winners Barcelona.

Our third-place finish in the Women’s Super League last season means we need to navigate a qualifying tie to enter the league phase of Europe’s elite competition. Nine two-legged ties will decide the final berths in this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The Blues were seeded in the draw alongside Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Wolfsburg, with those sides matched against St Polten, Eintracht Frankfurt, Ajax and Inter Milan respectively.

There are nine qualifying ties in total and the winners of those two-legged matches will join the nine clubs who have directly qualified for the league phase. The nine defeated teams will transfer to the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup second qualifying round.

The first leg will be at home and is scheduled to be played on 26 August, with the return game pencilled in for 2 September. Kick-off times will be announced by 12 August.
