Who And When In The Champions League
From the official Chelsea FC website:
WHEN IS THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ROUND OF 16 DRAW AND WHO CAN CHELSEA PLAY?
Our smooth passage to the Champions League knockout stages means we have a last-16 tie to look forward to in the new year, and here we have all the details about the draw and who the Blues can be paired with…
When is the Champions League draw?
The draw takes place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on Monday 14 December. It starts at 11am UK time.
How can I watch the draw?
UEFA will be streaming the draw live on their website, while in the UK it will be shown live on BT Sport 2, with coverage starting at 10.45am.
Who could Chelsea play in the Champions League next round?
As one of the eight teams to finish top of their group, we can face any of the runners-up aside from Sevilla, who were in our group. The other two teams from our national association who qualified, Manchester City and Liverpool, also finished first so there is no way we could meet them anyway.
That leaves our possible round of 16 opponents as:
Atletico Madrid
Borussia Monchengladbach
Porto
Atalanta
Lazio
Barcelona
RB Leipzig
Who else has qualified for the Champions League round of 16?
Seven other teams finished first in their group. They are:
Bayern Munich
Real Madrid
Manchester City
Liverpool
Borussia Dortmund
Juventus
Paris Saint-Germain
Sevilla were the other team to advance from our group.
How does the Champions League draw work?
The group winners (seeded teams) are at home in the second legs, so Chelsea will be playing away from home in the first leg.
No team can play a club from their UEFA Champions League group or a side from the same national association.
When do the Champions League round of 16 ties take place?
The first legs are scheduled for 16, 17, 23 and 24 February, with the second legs on 9, 10, 16 and 17 March.
The draw for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final is on 19 March.
