Chelsea In Qatar – 15 down to 6

So of the fifteen Chelsea players who started the World cup, we have six left in the tournament, here is my guide to how they have performed so far.
Thiago Silva (Brazil)

3 matches, 1 Assist, Played 270 minutes.

At 38 years and 74 days old, the Brazil captain has broken the record set by Cameroon’s Roger Milla.

He was rested against Cameroon, but otherwise has been as reliable and solid as he has been for the Blues, lets hope he comes through without any injury as Brazil should go all the way to the final on their performances so far.

His best performance so far was against Switzerland as Brazil gave a great defensive performance winning 1-0.

Mason Mount (England)

3 Matches, Played 174 minutes.

The midfielder played 70 minutes against the Iranians,  and the full 90 vs the USA, he came on as a sub vs Senegal after 76 minutes replacing Bellingham, but  was rested/didn’t feature vs Wales. Has had a so so World cup so far not providing anything special to the team, a bit like his Chelsea season so far this year.

Raheem Sterling (England)

2 Matches, 1 Goal, 1 Assist, Played 138 minutes.

Played well against Iran, then had a weaker game vs the USA, he was an unused sub against Wales.  He missed the last game vs Senegal due to a break in at his family home, but has now returned to Qatar. We shall see how that affects him as well as the travel back and forth.

Conor Gallagher (England)

0 Matches, 0 minutes played.

Unfortunate not to even get a run out during the Senegal game. Probably will not get any game time this World cup.

Mateo Kovacic (Croatia)

4 Matches, 1 yellow card,  Played 354 minutes.

Has performed his usual solid passing role in midfield with a 90% pass completion rate. He has been usually subbed near the end of games.

Had his best game in the win over Canada. Croatia have struggled to score so far and will be lucky to get past Brazil.

Hakim Ziyech

4 Matches, 1 Goal, 1 Assist, Played 376 minutes

The “Wizard” has been ever present for the Atlas Lions, and has had 7 of their 32 attempts on goal, and the also the most crosses for them. His best performance was against Belgium, but against Spain with Morocco playing very defensively he had a subdued performance.Their second best player after the excellent Hakimi. Arguably the best Blue at the tournament so far, let’s hope he can reproduce this form for us on his return for the rest of the season.
