Chelsea In Qatar – Cameroon v Brazil

Cameroon 1 – 0 Brazil

(Group G, Lusail Iconic Stadium, 02/12/2022)

Needing only a point to guarantee top spot and already through to the last sixteen, Brazil as expected made wholesale changes for this game,

Their line-up was still pretty strong, featuring a whole host of premiership players from Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool, although our own Thiago Silva was on the bench.

Brazil starting XI: Ederson, Telles, Bremer, Militao, Alves, Fred, Fabinho, Martinelli, Rodrygo, Antony, Jesus

Five changes for Cameroon  after their 3-3 draw with Serbia

Cameroon starting XI: Epassy, Tolo, Wooh, Ebosse, Fai, Ngamaleu, Kunde, Anguissa, Choupo-Moting, Aboubakar, Mbuemo

The game started brightly with Brazil attacking down their right only for the attacks to be halted abruptly, resulting in a flurry of yellow cards as the ref stamped his authority on the game.

Neither side had a good grip on the game and chances came and went with Cameroon having the only shot on goal that Brazil have faced so far in the tournament.

The second half picked up a bit, with Brazil having several good chances before  a good break in extra time saw Aboubakar score with a great header that left Ederson rooted to the spot. Cue crazy celebrations and a second yellow for Aboubakar as he had removed his shirt. Brazil then had several good chances to equalise before the final whistle in the 100th minute.
