CFC Supporters v Dortmund Supporters

Prior to the main game yesterday, supporters from Chelsea and Dortmund held a charity match to raise funds for the Earthquake Appeal for Turkey and Syria

The two sets of players met at the Linford Christie Stadium in White City, sandwiched between Wormwood Scrubs and Hammersmith Hospital the venue was more of an athletics stadium (hence the venue name I guess) but also had a full size grass pitch for the game to be played on

The main purpose of the event was to raise much needed funds for those suffering in Turkey and Syria after the recent earthquakes in those two countries. Alongside the ‘Just Giving Page‘ (which is still open for donations) a raffle was held with prizes being donated by Chelsea Football Club, including a signed shirt and and Museum Tour. Puma also supplied some T Shirts and, the two organisers also supplied some prizes.

Alongside these items, all the players recieved a token gift from CFC which included confectionary, CFC year books and members packs. All put together by our new Head of Supporter Liaison, Catherine Smith.

The match itself was sometimes a feisty affair with both teams looking to take the trophy home with them. The Dortmund supporters came out on top with 2-0 win, after a very close 0-0 first half.

When you consider the Chelsea Supporters team had only met each other for the first time on the day, I would say this was a great effort from them all and, with a bit more time together, we could have got more from the game.

It was a lot of hard work helping to put this together with our friends at the Chelsea Supporters Club but worth every bit of time getting this off the ground.

Many thanks to everyone involved on the day and, the time leading up to the day. Too many to mention here but you know who you are.

You can still donate to the appeal by clicking the link here. Many thanks to all those who have already put your hands in your pockets via the link or the raffle, I’m sure your contributions will be gratefully received.

Here’s to the next one! 🙂

Next time you are doing a Chelsea FC Stadium and Museum Tour, lookout for the two pennants.
