Aston Villa v Chelsea: Kick-off time, where to watch and more

From the official Chelsea FC website:

The Blues are on the road this weekend with a trip to Villa Park. Here is all you need to know ahead of our Women’s Super League clash against Aston Villa…

A week after our London derby victory against Arsenal, the Blues are back on the road with a visit to Birmingham.

When the two sides last met on the opening day of the season, it was Sonia Bompastor‘s first game in charge in the WSL. With our head coach since setting a new record of 12 league games unbeaten, can her side make it number 13 against the Villans?

Where and when

We play Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday 2 February, with kick-off scheduled for 2.30pm.

How to follow

As always, you can follow minute-by-minute updates at our Aston Villa v Chelsea Women Match Centre on the official Chelsea website and app. You can also follow through Chelsea Women’s social media channels on XFacebook and Instagram.

The match will be shown live on BBC Two for those watching in the UK.

The form

The Blues sit atop the WSL table with 34 points, seven ahead of second-placed Manchester United. We remain the only unbeaten team in the league after 12 games played.

Our most recent WSL win arrived last weekend at Stamford Bridge where Bompastor’s side claimed a 1-0 win against London rivals Arsenal. Guro Reiten‘s late penalty proved the difference in front of a record crowd for a WSL match in SW6.

Aston Villa, who will have new manager Natalia Arroyo at the helm for the first time on Sunday, sit ninth in the league standings with 10 points. They have won two, drawn four and lost six of their matches thus far.

Our opponents’ last WSL match ended in a 4-2 home defeat to Manchester City. Chastity Grant put Villa 1-0 up after six minutes, before City got themselves back in the game through a Vivianne Miedema brace, and goals from Mary Fowler and Jess Park, while an own-goal gifted the hosts a second after half-time.

Recent head-to-head

The two teams last met on the opening day of the season when Bompastor’s side prevailed with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Kingsmeadow. Johanna Rytting Kaneryd‘s stunning goal helped us claim all three points.
