Home Draw In The EFL Cup
Chelsea were given a home draw in the ‘Carling / Coca Cola / Rumbelows / Milk / EFL / League Cup!’
I think a lot of supporters were hoping for an away visit to a new ground but it wasn’t to be, our unusual entry into the competition at round two saw us draw (in a pretty complicated way) one of the Bristol teams at Stamford Bridge.
From the official Chelsea FC website:
“Chelsea will host Bristol Rovers in the second round of the EFL Cup.
The Gas beat Cardiff City after extra-time at the Memorial Ground tonight so it is the side from League One who will travel to Stamford Bridge in the week commencing 22 August.
We last met Bristol Rovers in 1980/81 as Division Two rivals in the old Second Division. We beat the West Country club 2-0 at Stamford Bridge that season, Clive Walker and an own goal on the scoresheet.
Ticket details for the tie will be announced in due course”
