Young Blues to play away against the Robins
From the official Chelsea FC website:
Chelsea Under-21s will take on Cheltenham Town in the Papa Johns Trophy round of 16 next month.
The young Blues were drawn away against Cheltenham following our 4-2 victory over Peterborough United in the round of 32. Goals from Malik Mothersille (2), Cesare Casadei and Ben Elliott were enough to see us through.
Cheltenham Town, who currently sit 18th in League One, were opponents for us in this competition as recently as last year. Both sides played out a 0-0 draw in the group-stage game as the Robins went on to win 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out.
Despite this, our young Blues finished second while our upcoming opponents finished bottom of the group.
Teams are still drawn on a regionalised basis. This is the final round for this stipulation.
With this possibly being our Under-21s’ final match of the year, extending the unbeaten run in all competitions will be the target.
Ties will be played week commencing 12 December, and further fixture and ticket information will be announced on this website in due course.
