Chelsea Plan Crackdown On Ticket Touts
Chelsea Football Club are planning a crackdown on ticket touts for the forthcoming season.
They have asked for any match going supporter who has been intimidated by touts or who have witnessed the same in the areas surrounding Stamford Bridge to make a statement as to what happened. This can range from being constantly pestered, followed by touts to being obstructed on the way to the stadium.
Once the club have enough statements they intend to present them to the local councils and police with the hope that they will set up a ” dispersal zone” under the Public Order Act 2003. With this in place the police would be able to issue the touts with notice to move away from the said area and not return for 24 hours on threat of arrest for a public order offence.
A similar scheme has been put in place for the Wimbledon tennis championships and has been very successful.

Being a season ticket holder for the past 4 seasons along with having visited matches regularly for the past 10 years there is a constant problem with touts around Stamford Bridge that has become significantly worse over the past few years.
When attending games I take various routes to the ground ranging from using fulham broadway / earls court and imperial wharf. There are two main hot spots where the touts cause nuisance – outside fulham broadway and the area of fulham road near the black bull. They are often huddled in small groups obstructing passers by and being a constant irritant. Further a-field near the shopping centre attached to fulham broadway you occasionally have them loitering outside or inside the ground floor looking to rip off some poor soul and preventing real fans from from getting a seat. It is all made so blatant strolling around hearing their comments of “tickets, tickets buy or sell” and something needs to be done.
