Chelsea In Qatar – Brazil v Korea

Brazil 4 – 1 Korea

(Round of 16, Al Thumama Stadium, 05/12/2022)

Chelsea’s Thiago Silva returns for Brazil as Captain.

The game starts and Brazil scored with their first shot on target. It comes after some magic from Raphinha down the right wing. He skins a player, cuts it back for Neymar in the centre who missed it under pressure but it fell to Vinicius Junior who had time and space to curl the ball past 3 defenders, the goalie and  just over the defender on the line, who’s just to short to head it away. Great goal.

10 minutes in and Richarlson won a penalty although it was a bit harsh as the defender was just trying to clear the ball as Richarlson came from behind him and “bought” the penalty, up stepped Neymar and despite the goalie dancing to put him off Neymar staggered his run up and tapped the ball into the net. 2-0.

That’s Neymar’s 76th goal for Brazil. One more to equal Pele’s record

16 mins and great long range strike from 25 yards was tipped over by Alisson

From a quick counter Richarlson played head tennis in front of a defender before passing the ball off and then receiving the reply from Silva and smashing it in the net. 3-0

Samba football at its finest.

This is looking like it’s going to be a massacre

4-0 Vinicius Jr lifts a ball from the left-side of the penalty area and Lucas Paqueta met it and volleyed it first time for his first World Cup goal.

Jung is booked for a silly foul on Raphinha, before Brazil waste three good chance to increase their lead.

The halftime whistle ends Korean’s torment.

Two changes for Korea at half time.

Korea made a lively start to the second half before Raphinha waltzed into the Korean box from the right, his shot was going in, but the keeper makes a wonderful save with the fingertips.

On the hour mark the 39 year old Danny Alves entered the fray.

65 mins and a great cutback after a quick break to Richarlson who missed another good chance to increase the score.

68 mins and S Korea had a chance, but Alisson has stood firm in this match saving everything that has come his way.

But he couldn’t do anything about a free kick from the sub Lee who swung a ball in, Brazil half cleared it. But Paik took a touch on the edge of the D and rifled a rising shot that took a  slight deflection, and Alisson stood no chance 76 min and Neymar was replaced, so Peles record still stands.

The game drifts to an end with both sides having half chances and Brazil advance to face Croatia on Friday, I think they will be worried.
