Chelsea Women vs Liverpool Women preview:

…… Kick-off time, where to watch live and more!

From the official Chelsea FC website:

Chelsea Women welcome Liverpool to Kingsmeadow as our Women’s FA Cup campaign gets underway on Sunday, with supporters in the UK able to watch the game live on our platforms.

The fourth round tie is a repeat of last Sunday’s game which had to be abandoned because of a frozen pitch. As WSL sides, both teams enter the competition at this stage with 16 ties in all taking place on Sunday. AFC Wimbledon, Cardiff City and Hashtag United are the lowest-ranked teams still involved. They all ply their trade in the fourth tier of the women’s game.

Chelsea are the current holders of the FA Cup and we will be looking to take another step towards lifting it for a fifth time at Wembley later this year, having already booked our place in the League Cup semi-finals this week with a win over Tottenham.

When and where?

We welcome Liverpool to Kingsmeadow in the Women’s FA Cup fourth round on Sunday 29 January.

Kick-off time

The game will start at 1pm UK time.

Where to watch

As always, you can follow the game via Chelsea Women’s social media channels. There will be live commentary on our Twitter page and regular updates on Facebook and Instagram. Simply search ‘ChelseaFCW’ on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Supporters in the UK who cannot attend will be able to watch the match on the official Chelsea website and The 5th Stand app.

The form

We began the New Year with the 1-1 draw at Arsenal, a game defined by two key moments which led to a share of the spoils. Prior to that, we enjoyed nine consecutive league victories. We have won nine, drawn one and lost one of our 11 league matches to date.

Our other completed game in 2023 saw us beat Tottenham 3-1 on Wednesday in the Continental Cup quarter-finals. Erin CuthbertFran Kirby and Sam Kerr got our goals during a commanding performance in east London.

On the same night Liverpool lost 1-0 to West Ham so didn’t advance to the semi-finals like us. Dagny Brynjarsdottir scored the only goal late on.

In the league Liverpool are in ninth place with eight points, having won two, drawn two and lost six of their 10 league matches. They have scored 11 goals during this time and conceded 22 in the process, giving them a goal difference of -11.

Chelsea Women vs Liverpool Women recent head-to-head record

Our previous meeting with Liverpool this season came on the opening day in the WSL, where we fell to a 2-1 defeat at Prenton Park in September.

Fran Kirby gave us an early lead from the penalty spot, but Liverpool were awarded two second-half penalties of their own which Katie Stengel dispatched to give the newly-promoted Reds all three points.

The reverse fixture last Sunday had to be abandoned early in the game because of a frozen pitch. We await details of when that will be rescheduled to.

Our only previous meeting with Liverpool in the FA Cup was in February 2020, when Guro Reiten‘s first-half goal secured our place in the quarter-finals. We would eventually go on to lift the trophy after the pandemic interrupted that season.

Next up for the Blues

The symmetry of our recent fixture schedule continues as we return to Brisbane Road to play Tottenham next Sunday 5 February, this time in the WSL. Kick-off in east London is at 12.30pm and the game is live on BBC2.
