The Legend Tour & Museum with Pat Nevin 22nd January

Me and Liz up early for the 9.40 tour, we were really looking forward to this, I last visited the museum when it was situated in the Shed, and the trophy room was  smaller !

Had a nice email from Chelsea explaining how the tour would pan out which was helpful.

After check in we paid our respects to Luca at the entrance, still feel very sad about his passing, then we had our photo with the two Champions league trophy’s and the Club World Cup followed by a quick look in the museum

Pat arrived bang on time even though he had been carrying out his DJ duties until 3am..fair play to him

Walked through  the MHL then alongside the pitch he was answering questions as we ended up in the media room via the press box where there was a quick Q & A session with photos and signings of books, photos and even a pair of shorts…Don’t ask, they weren’t mine or Liz’s before you ask.

Into the away dressing room more questions and answers with some funny stories from his playing days, and then onto the home dressing room which wasn’t to dissimilar to when I visited it on the last tour over 12 years ago but looks fantastic with the blue shirts hanging up.

From the dressing room we turned right down the tunnel, with Liquidator being played ( I did close my eyes for a second and imagined  I was going out on the pitch to play in blue it certainly made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, maybe in another lifetime ) and onto pitch side and the dugouts.

The ground is majestic empty, you get the impression it is sleeping and all of a sudden it will burst into life match days.

From there back into the museum where Pat was still answering questions , the museum is very good,

I don’t want to give you a list of what’s on show as it will spoil things if people want to visit, go and see for yourselves you want be disappointed.

It was a wonderful couple of hours, I have met Pat once at the Duke of Edinburgh in Ascot and been on a zoom meeting with him which he stayed an hour longer then he was scheduled to. He is a wonderful man, great humour and doesn’t take himself seriously.

Thank you to all involved organising our morning out, thoroughly recommend it.

Everyone at the venue, from the receptionist, the photographer, tour guide, all the staff made our trip very welcoming and enjoyable and are a credit to Chelsea Football Club
