Mobile tickets coming soon on Official Chelsea App

From the official Chelsea FC website:

Over the coming weeks and months, fans will be invited to test mobile tickets on the Official Chelsea App for matches at Stamford Bridge.

The new feature will allow general admission and hospitality season ticket holders, and members, to access tickets on the Android and iOS versions of the app as well as share tickets with friends and family.

Taking part in the test phase

Participation in the test phase will be by invitation only to a small group of selected fans before scaling up with each home match. Therefore not all fans should expect to receive invitations at the same time.

In order to participate in the test phase, fans will need to validate and sync their accounts on the Official Chelsea App and our ticketing portal, instructions for which will be sent by email.

About mobile tickets

Secure, fast and easy to use, mobile tickets will allow fans to access and share general admission tickets and Club Chelsea tickets in one place. Please note that the trial is limited to matches at Stamford Bridge and will not affect ticket holders at Kingsmeadow. Season ticket cards and print-at-home tickets will still be valid during the test phase.

  • Hopefully this restricts ticket holders from being able to sell tickets on easily. Facebook groups are awash with tickets for every home game, people are buying tickets for games they have no intention of going to, purely for the loyalty points so they can go to the desirable games or finals.

That makes the VWR an absolute nightmare as genuine fans who do want to go miss out, or spend an hour in the queue trying.

If they don’t prohibit the easy transferring of tickets, then at least don’t reward the buyer with loyalty points if they do sell it on. The transferring of tickets should be to family and friends only, how that is managed so they are genuine family or friends I don’t know but it needs to be tour proof. Also give members the ability to list them on the ticket exchange if they can’t make it.
