Chelsea Supporters Football Tournament 2016
Chelsea Supporters Football Tournament 2016
The 2016 ‘Chelsea Supporters Fans Tournament’ has been confirmed and the date this year will be Sunday 10th July.
The format will be very similar to previous years with 10 team contesting both the Plate Trophy and the Overall Winners Cup, played on two pitches throughout the day. Two new trophies are being supplied this year from CSG member Bryan Marriott from Expose Designs and we thank him for that, also many thanks to Chelsea FC for the use of the Cobham facilities once again for the 8th year of this annual event.
The ‘Kyle Broadbent Memorial Trophy’ will be renamed this year to the ‘Broadbent Memorial Trophy’, we felt this appropriate as we lost Tony this year to cancer, members of Tony’s family will be in attendance on the day to help with the awards.
As in previous years we expect the entries to be oversubscribed and we ask all teams wishing to enter to contact us here by 31st May at the LATEST, all entries will go into a hat and the ten teams will be drawn by a member of Chelsea FC staff to ensure fairness. All successful teams will be notified following the draw.
Please remember, all teams entering MUST BE CHELSEA SUPPORTERS and not play together in any leagues, this is a ‘Fun Event’ and although we expect some competitive spirit please remember what the day is all about, a chance to play at Cobham and to play in a fun tournament with fellow Chelsea supporters.
Entry fees this year will be notified to all teams in the near future once we know the costs of referees, St Johns ambulance etc, but I’m sure will be similar to previous years fees. Any excess money will go in the charities pot that will benefit from the raffle that we hold on the day.
This year Chelsea are donating some great prizes once again and other prizes have been donated by other CSG members, further details on this will follow. All incomes from the day goes to our charities and we ask you to support this on the day.
The two charities this year will once again be ‘Regenorate UK’ and ‘Chelsea Foundation’ who both do great work within the Chelsea community.
The on site changing rooms will be available again but we have been informed that the showers WILL NOT, this is due to renovation work in the building when we are there. St Johns Ambulance will be around during the day to supply plasters and cuddles! We also have the refreshment wagon available for food and drinks.
We have also ordered the sunshine but have no guarantees of this appearing!
There will also be an appearance by some of the Chelsea Old Boys who once again will assist with the refereeing during the day!! again, details of who will be attending will be confirmed in the near future.
As always, help and assistance will be encouraged and indeed, welcome. If you would like to come along to assist us then please e-mail us here.
Further updates will follow and we look forward to seeing you and your teams on the day.
Peter and Cliff
Super news gents.Sadly wont be attending as already have a previous commitment.I did however wonder if you might consider renaming the Plate the “Kirstie Wilson Memorial Plate”? (been meaning to suggest it for a couple of months now)
The reason for the naming of the ‘Kyle Broadbent Memorial Trophy’ was decided after Kyle sadly passed away and Tony his father was a CSG member as well as a supporter of the annual tournament and we thought it appropriate to re name the trophy a few years ago.
Since Tony passed away earlier this year we have changed it for this years event to just read ‘Broadbent Memorial Trophy’
Hi there,
I have participated in the last 2 Chelsea Supporters Tournament’s at Cobham and would love to take part again this year.
Team name: Jam Tree Blues
I have previously been in touch with Peter Trenter but I just wanted to ensure that my submission was confirmed.
Kind regards
Yes you are all registered Nicky. Cliff will be in touch once we know who has been lucky in the draw. Ed
Hi Guys,
Attended tournament last year as a spectator and thoroughly enjoyed the day although disappointed I didn’t bring my boots to try and play as a ‘ringer’ for one of the teams competing.
I have drummed up some interest among fellow CFC supporters and would like to enter a team into the draw.
Is there a form to complete or can you provide a link to submit an entry please.
Regards
Dean Ansell
