Chelsea’s 2022/23 Premier League Fixtures Announced
From the official Chelsea FC website:
Following the release of the fixtures for the 2022/23 Premier League season, we have all the details on who Chelsea are playing where and when…
It is an unusual season this time, with the World Cup breaking it up midway through, and that means an early start…
Who do Chelsea play in the opening weeks of the season?
The new season kicks off with a trip to Merseyside and a reunion with Frank Lampard, as we take on Everton at Goodison Park. Then there is a home London derby against Tottenham, before we travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United.
We end August with a home date against Leicester before facing Southampton at St Mary’s, in what is scheduled to be our first midweek clash of the new campaign.
You mentioned Tottenham but when are Chelsea’s London derbies against Arsenal and West Ham?
West Ham at Stamford Bridge follows quickly after that trip to Southampton, currently three days later in fact. We host Arsenal on Bonfire Night, 5 November, with the return at the Emirates in April.
Our away trips to West Ham and Tottenham are both to be played in February.
When do Chelsea meet Manchester City and Manchester United?
United are scheduled to be at Stamford Bridge on 22 October, with the return fixture at Old Trafford pencilled in for 22 April. Defending champions Manchester City will be our first opponents in 2023, as Pep Guardiola’s side visit London in early January. We head to the Etihad on 20 May in what will be our final away fixture of the season.
And what about Chelsea’s home Premier League game against Liverpool?
We welcome Jurgen Klopp’s side to Stamford Bridge on Saturday 17 September. That fixture will be our final game before the first international break of the new season.
When do we take on Nottingham Forest?
Steve Cooper’s Reds are back in the Premier League after a 23-year hiatus, and we will head to the City Ground on New Year’s Eve. Forest will visit Stamford Bridge in May.
Is there a break for the World Cup?
Yes, this will take place in November and December between our games against Newcastle away and Bournemouth at home on Boxing Day.
What are Chelsea’s Premier League games after the six Champions League group stage matches?
The Champions League gets underway for Chelsea in September, with clashes against Fulham (away) and Liverpool (home) following matchday one and two respectively. After the third group-stage game we host Wolves, while after the fourth tie we head to Aston Villa. A trip to Brighton follows matchday five and we will welcome Arsenal to the Bridge after matchday six.
Who do Chelsea play over Christmas and New Year?
We welcome newly-promoted Bournemouth to the Bridge on Boxing Day, with the aforementioned trip to Forest pencilled in for New Year’s Eve. Then it is Manchester City on January 2 to complete our festive fixtures. There is a bigger gap than usual after the Boxing Day game.
How about the end of the Premier League season run-in?
The final month of the season sees us take on Bournemouth (away) and Nottingham Forest (home) before our penultimate game, against Man City away from home.
Who is Chelsea’s last Premier League game of 2022/23 against?
Newcastle, who visit the Bridge on 28 May.
Changes to fixtures
Supporters are reminded that throughout the campaign there will be alterations to the fixtures. Match dates can change for a variety of reasons, including live TV broadcast selections and to accommodate matches in European and domestic cup competitions. For this reason, Premier League fixtures are always advertised as being subject to change.
The broadcast fixtures for the period of August and September are expected to be announced by 5 July and for October by 29 July.
