Real Madrid Women vs Chelsea Women preview:
…… Kick-off time, where to watch and more!
From the official Chelsea FC website:
Chelsea Women return to UEFA Women’s Champions League action when they travel to face Real Madrid on matchday four at the Estadio Alfredo di Stefano on Thursday night.
The Blues have recorded three consecutive victories without conceding a goal in the group stages to date, most recently overcoming our Spanish opposition 2-0 at Kingsmeadow. Second-half goals from Sophie Ingle and Erin Cuthbert sent us five points clear at the top of Group A.
We began this month with an emphatic 8-0 victory away to Leicester City on Saturday to restore our three-point advantage at the top of the WSL table. Fran Kirby and Jessie Fleming netted braces while Guro Reiten, Sam Kerr, Niamh Charles and Bethany England were also on target in the East Midlands.
Our attention quickly switches back to our European exploits as we travel to the Spanish capital knowing that a favourable result moves us one step closer to qualification for the knockout stages of the competition.
When and where?
We face Real Madrid at the Estadio Alfredo di Stefano in the UEFA Women’s Champions League this Thursday 8 December, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm (UK time)

The form
Our European form has been faultless to date with maximum points from our opening three matches in the group phase. An impressive 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital was followed up with back-to-back home wins against Albanian champions Vllaznia and then Real Madrid.
We occupy first place in Group A with nine points, having put together a 100 per cent record with three straight wins. During this time, we have scored 11 goals without reply leaving us with a goal difference of +11.
As for Real Madrid, they sit third in the group with four points from nine available with one win, one draw and one defeat from their opening three matches. They have scored twice and conceded twice, leaving them with a zero goal difference and level on points with second-placed PSG.
In their most recent outing, they faced Levante Las Planas in the league and emerged 4-1 victors to maintain their unbeaten run away from home. This win saw them jump to second place in the league table, eight points behind pacesetters Barcelona.
Real Madrid Women vs Chelsea Women recent head-to-head record
Exactly a fortnight ago, we welcomed Real Madrid to Kingsmeadow for the reverse fixture in Group A on a chilly night under the lights in the capital.
It was an evenly contested affair in the first 45 minutes, the game was goalless at the break and finely poised ahead of the second half.
It was here that we seized the initiative, breaking the deadlock when Millie Bright’s flick-on from an Erin Cuthbert corner was nodded home from close range by Ingle.
Shortly after, Cuthbert doubled our advantage with a stunning effort from the right flank which looped into the far corner and secured a valuable three points against stern opposition.
Next up for the Blues
The games keep on coming for the Blues and we return to Women’s Super League action on Sunday 11 December when Reading are the visitors to Kingsmeadow.
This is our final league fixture which precedes two further Champions League group stage games before the Christmas break.
Kick-off against Reading is scheduled for 6.45pm (UK time) and the match has been selected for live television coverage on Sky Sports.
