The form
After a tricky spell, Chelsea have leaped back to winning ways with consecutive victories in the Women’s Super League. A pair of 2-0 victories started away at Tottenham Hotspur, courtesy of Keira Walsh and Alyssa Thompson goals, before Lauren James scored one and set up Sjoeke Nusken for the other in last weekend’s home triumph over Liverpool.
Manchester United are on a run of seven consecutive wins across all competitions, since a 0-0 WSL draw at Arsenal on 10 January, although they must still face Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League last 16 before coming to Kingsmeadow.
Recent head-to-head
These two teams have already met once this season, back in October in the Women’s Super League, when Wieke Kaptein‘s early strike for the Blues helped us to a hard-fought 1-1 draw in Manchester.
Of course, five months before that, we had also faced the Red Devils in the final of the Women’s FA Cup last season. On that occasion things were more one-sided, as Sandy Baltimore‘s penalty gave us the lead and two late goals made our triumph certain, Catarina Macario‘s strike and Baltimore’s second of the game making the final score at Wembley 3-0.
